Right piercing = gay?

Okay let me think where should I start from.

After pondering for a few weeks, I finally decided to get my ear pierced today. Guess what? It was my right ear.

According to some cultures, right ear piercing represents homosexuality.

Yadaa. People came asking me if it was accidental. Heck no, it was intentional. First of all, the purpose of the earring for me, was ornamental, not for sexual desire. This should clearify my own dilemma of piercing it or not. I didn't really cared about what others think, as long as gays don't approach me and I don't get poked up my backside it's alright for me. No offence intended though.

I'm considered an artist hopefully since I'm a photographer. Level of skills is another case, the thing is that, "hey, I'm an artist". I feel that as long as something doesn't affect others, you can do it however you like it. One of my favourite line: "As long as you like it, just do it. Happy can already".

Pink used to be avoided for guy's clothing and accessories since it was more for the ladies some years back. Left parting used to be the standard for guys who comb their hair from the side. Girls doesn't wear mini skirts ages ago. However, everything that had just been mentioned already changes. These were all mindsets, which never have a right or wrong, they changes as we progress. However, there must be somebody brave enough to be the first to lead. And also there must be others daring enough to follow the pioneer's footstep in order to make the idea a success.

I've no idea how many straight guys had been wearing accessories on their right ear, but as far as I know, the amount is meagre. Everyone, without second thoughts, went straight to the idea of piercing their left ears, or both ears. Somehow I think they need lubricant for their brains to move more flexibly. Of course, if they find the ear stud looking better on their left, that's pretty good. But if they pierce their left ears thinking that right ear represents homosexuality, I'd find that concept pretty wrong.

Just... what is the difference between many piercings on both ears, and just one ear piercing on the right? Does it really matter? I just love to oppose the flow.

In the extreme first place, do I even give you the impression of a gay in this picture? And by looking at it, you can't even tell if I'd pierced both sides.

hey! very long never visit ur blog already! can't remember when was the last time i actually read people's blog... i decided to leave u a comment cuz....

eh, ur info is inaccurate lah... where did u get it from?!
is left ear symbolizes homosexuality, NOT right ear. i know some homophobic guys in places where there's a lot of gays actually deliberately peirce their right ears only so hopefully gay men won't even think about hitting on them. so no worry lah, u r safe from being mistaken as gay.

anyway, doesn't matter which ear u pierce lah. i second the idea of going ahead to do whatever u like, just as long as it's not going to have a negative impact on people around u & u know that u'll be happy & never regret ur decision. if u have to go against the flow to be happy, go against it! some "rules" in society are useless anyway (not all though, but i'm sure u can tell). conformity leads to a more peaceful society but brainless conformity dumbs people down! i hate people 1) who don't have a mind of their own, 2) who think that people who are different are adnormal or wrong. fucking stupid can... different simply means different, doesn't necessarily mean adnormal or wrong... different has no connotation other than meaning being the opposite of the mainstream but adnormal/ wrong have negative connotations or have value judgements added to them... and these values judgements held by the majority may not even be right! being the majority doesn't mean u r neccesarily right!

anyway, i'm not someone who deliberately 唱反调 with everyone else, but i do value individuality a lot. not that i'm an attention seeker (although some attention is always flattering), but i do purposely try to be different from everyone else. y be a carbon copy of everyone else? varities are there for a reason! anyway, u have the liberty to do whatever u want as long u r being a responsible member of the society. we shouldn't let narrow-minded people control the way we want to look/ live!

Syl ar~ is right ear homo lar =_= 80% or more of s'pore guys are piercing their left instead of right ears. >_<

But anyway, comments well said!! Great minds thinks like you and me! XD

oh yar, u r right! it's piercing the right ear only for guys that people associate with the guy being gay.

it's just that i think things changed over the years, so many homosexual guys have only their right ears pierced now, if not both. so i got muddled up! yep, there's some stupid belief that's obviously still circulating among us now that right= wrong (homo) and left= right (straight). but like u have realized urself, the "rule" is still there, but it's silly & not everyone is playing by the it now... most of my gay friends pierce both their ears and of course, heaps of straight guys these days only pierce their right ears. butif any guy deliberately pierce his left ear due to the "rule", it's quite dumb. cuz, wanna pierce then pierce both ears lah. if they want to go against the norm of piercing both ears, y don't they dare to go against the right=homo "rule"? unless they have been constantly harrassed by gay guys, until they have to purposely pierce their left ear then i got nothing to say... if not, guys should be doing that for beauty sake what...

oh yar i know u never update ur blog regularly anymoe. i also never read blogs as often already. just very sian so decided to drop by ur blog and see of got anything new. damn sian so decided to comment. at least, u r still replying to comments! which is good. i abandoned my blog for dunno how long already then realized i have had a few unanswered comments when i went to re-visit it yesterday... it's a suprise that people r still visiting my blog... they probably found it when googling something else ba...
